Description:

Ghana, Ewe, ca. mid-20th century CE. Small Ewe standing female figure of a characteristically abstract form with an enlarged head, diminituitive limbs, and emphasizing her fertility, pronounced breasts, incised marks over her womb, and a round buttocks. Her visage shows incised eyes, nose, and mouth. Beyond this the ears are nicely delineated as is the coiffure styled with several delicate buns. Figure is further adorned with a necklace comprised of yellow and green miniature trade beads. Mounted upon wood block stand. Size: 3" W x 6.125" H (7.6 cm x 15.6 cm)
