Northern Africa, Sahara Desert, Neolithic period, ca. 10,000 to 6000 BCE; Northern Europe, Denmark, Neolithic period, ca. 3900 to 1700 BCE. A collection of 2 Neolithic stone blades perhaps for handheld use, knapped from a creamy gray and maroon chert- the larger is possibly Danish, and the smaller is possibly African. Such tools were used by ancient humans for all sorts of hunting and gathering needs, and the prettier stones - like the red-lilac coloration in the smaller blade- may have been for ceremonial use or used in burial. Size of largest: 6" L x 2" W (15.2 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010
