Africa, Cameroon, Bamum or Tikar peoples, ca. mid-20th century CE. A pair of pottery pygmy guardians, also known as house guardians, who present as petite anthropomorphic figures with wildly exaggerated facial features. The darker figure features ample cicatrice markings as well as a shell horn on his belt, and the lighter-colored figure is adorned with bracelets on the legs and arms. Size of largest (darker figure): 4.125" L x 5.5" W x 7.625" H (10.5 cm x 14 cm x 19.4 cm)
