Africa, Bura Asinda-Sikka, modern-day Mali/Niger, ca. 3rd to 11th century CE. Rare carved stone marker or scepter from this enigmatic culture. Large triangular head with eyes, nose and mouth in high relief, incised designs showing some form of ritual tattooing, long shaft for insertion into ground or holding. A very nice example! Size: 6" W x 13.5" H (15.2 cm x 34.3 cm).
