North or West Africa, Tuareg / Touareg people, Berber culture, early to mid-20th century CE. A collection of 3 necklaces with protective talisman pendants. The bold necklace with large copal beads and spherical filigree and granulated nickel-brass beads on a chain, with a Turkish / Ottoman Empire brass coin pendant at the center- the faces have a lightly rubbed feel as if the coin was fingered often for luck. The angular cross pendant, known as a tanaghilt or agadez, is nickel-brass, and strung on a cotton cord with tubular Tuareg beads and faceted Czech fire-polished glass beads of an iridescent blue and black hue. The final necklace has massive red copal beads withing nickel-silver wire settings and a 67% silver hamsa hand pendant. Hamsa of Hand of Fatima is a Near Eastern talisman that protects against the evil eye and promotes luck, and the symbol has been adopted by many faiths.   • Condition: A paperclip is attached to hamsa hand, and could easily be replaced with a jewelry jumper ring. Patina and dark toning throughout. Chip to some copal beads and green patina on nickel-silver, Spherical filigree beads have some indentations and a few are coming apart at the center, but secure on strand. All are wearable and in in good to great condition.
