Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A delightful blackware whistle in the form of a coatimundi, seen here curled into a ball and clutching a branch. Holes in the sides of the body allow the player to regulate the sound, while the mouth hole is on the back of the animal. These playful animals may have been pets in ancient Latin America. Size: 2.6" W x 2" H (6.6 cm x 5.1 cm)
