Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Inca, ca. 1470 to 1523 CE. A charming hollow-built pottery bottle with a rounded base, a bulbous body, a stirrup-shaped handle, and a cylindrical spout with a discoid rim. The highly-burnished vessel depicts an amusing feline-form animal with a cream-slip body, dark-brown limbs, and a head which is divided down the middle with cream and brown hues. The concentric circular eyes give the beast a puzzled expression, and flared nostrils, bared teeth, and perky ears constitute the rest of the countenance. A small dark-brown ring encircles the base of the spout, and a radiating pattern adorns the rim. Size: 6" L x 3.7" W x 6" H (15.2 cm x 9.4 cm x 15.2 cm)
