Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Ca 1400 CE. Double-lobed pottery jar painted with red and black geometric patterns over a cream base, with standing bird (akin to a penguin) on one lobe, flared spout on the other and openwork bridge connecting. There is a small whistle under the bird's beak which makes a very lovely tone. 8-1/2"L x 6"H. PROVENANCE: Ex-L. Margulis Collection, Australia, acquired in 1995. The starting price is the lowest price at which the piece can sell.

  • Condition: Repaired area on one lobe, else just about choice with very strong paint. Proper restoration would make that repair look much better - email for details.
