Description:

Iran, Achaemenid Empire, ca. 5th century BCE. Three well modelled high-karat gold ornaments, each in the form of a kneeling Sphinx. Human head, lion body and wings outstretched over the back, each with two small suspension loops on reverse. Each tests out at over 16kt and total weight of the 3 is 2.6 grams.
