Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A fascinating pair of iron tools: an axe head and a pickaxe head. Larger of the 2, the axe presents a square butt and a long, arched blade with a slightly curved bit and a protruding beard. Alternatively, the pickaxe head displays a flattened adze and an ovoid eye. Two important tools to Viking culture! Size of larger (axe head): 8.8" L x 2.7" W (22.4 cm x 6.9 cm)
