Description:

Near East, Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A finely-preserved, mold-formed bronze crucifix pendant with wide lateral arms, lightly flared corners on the upper and lower arms, and an integral suspension loop on the top. The front of the cross displays Jesus Christ during the Crucifixion with outstretched limbs and a tilted head surrounded by a coronal halo and topped with a Byzantine-style cross. Fine dark-brown patina envelopes the entire pendant and gives it an elegant presentation. Size: 1.1" W x 1.8" H (2.8 cm x 4.6 cm).
