Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 8th to 11th century CE. A fine ensemble of forged-iron spearheads of intimidating forms. Four spearheads have tapered cylindrical socketing shafts that would fit onto the ends of long wooden poles, and one with a thick, rectangular tang and a petaloid blade. Size of largest: 10" L x 0.75" W (25.4 cm x 1.9 cm)

  • Condition: One socketed spearhead has structural instability near blade tip as shown. All items have chips and pitting to blade heads and socketing shafts or tang, with expected oxidation commensurate with age. Great iron patina throughout.
