Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Java, Central Javanese Period, ca. 8th to early 10th century CE. A gorgeous and stylish ring of a sturdy construction fashioned from 22K gold. The ring has a thin lower band which gradually widens at the top, and a scalloped bezel edge inside which a carved and smoothed amethyst cabochon is set. The ancient Javanese people were known for their proficiency in high-quality gold craftsmanship and created eccentric works of art to be worn by its wealthiest people. A fabulous and wearable example of ancient art! Size: 0.875" in Diameter x 1.1" H (2.2 cm x 2.8 cm); gold quality: 22K; total weight: 15.8 grams; US ring size 9.25.
