Description:

Near East, Islamic period, ca. 8th century CE. A pleasing pottery flask, mold-made with relief decoration of a star motif with caligraphic script on one side and a tondo of animals on the other. Hemispherical in form, the vessel bulges outward on the star motif side and is flattened on the side with animals, while the top is crowned by a narrow spout and twin arched handles. Size: 2.3" L x 3.3" W x 3.8" H (5.8 cm x 8.4 cm x 9.7 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.

Provenance: private Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA collection, inherited via grandfather, who collected before 1980
