Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 8th to 12th century CE. A cast-bronze bread stamp of a rectangular form bearing seven raised Greek letters within the recessed bottom face. The top of the stamp still retains the base of its original ring handle, and fine patina has enveloped the entire tool. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 2" L x 1.75" W (5.1 cm x 4.4 cm)
