Ancient Near East, late Sassanian Empire to early Islamic period, ca. 7th to 9th century CE. A slender bottle formed from free-blown glass of a deep turquoise hue that is embellished with several applied 'dots' made from opaque, beige-colored glass. The piriform vessel has a narrow base and a cylindrical spout meant to mitigate the evaporation of its contents, and the decorative dots created additional fingerholds for easy grasping. Size: 1.25" W x 2.875" H (3.2 cm x 7.3 cm); 3.625" H (9.2 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with restoration to small areas, and thick adhesive residue along new material and break lines. Loss to foot as shown. Nicks to body, neck, and applied dots, with light encrustations and weathering film across exterior. Nice iridescence in scattered areas.
