Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A lovely set of 8 tools or utensils cast from either bronze or high-grade silver. First are a set of 3 bronze pendants: a raptorial talon, a slender cowroid-shaped scoop, and a petite dagger. Next is a set of tweezers with a circular back loop, and a two-pronged fork or poker features pointed tips and a curved handle. One bronze spoon is covered in thick green and russet patina, and the other - lacking part of the handle - features a lustrous silvery sheen. The final spoon is formed from 88.81% silver and is covered in light brown patina. Size (silver spoon): 3.2" L x 0.75" W (8.1 cm x 1.9 cm); silver quality: 88.81%; weight: 5.2 grams

  • Condition: Chips and losses to portions of fork and all 3 spoons as shown; remaining pieces are intact and very good. Each piece has light abrasions and encrustations commensurate with age, with slight bending to overall form, and softening to some finer details. Great patina throughout.
