Description:

East Asia, Korea, middle Silla Dynasty, ca. 6th to 8th century CE. A delicate wheel-thrown pottery dish with an applied footed base, a wide, flared rim and a slender strap handle arching beneath the vessel's main body. The underside of the dish and areas along the base and handle exhibit a matte black glaze, though much of the vessel presents a worn buffware surface. Size: 5" W x 3.5" H (12.7 cm x 8.9 cm).

  • Condition: Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age as expected, very minor nicks to rim, handle, and base, with chips and fading to glazed areas, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits throughout. Great traces of glaze beneath body and along base and handle.
