Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Northern Asia, Russia, Siberia, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 35,000 to 10,000 years ago; Eastern Europe, Romania, Miocene, ca. 23 million years ago; North America, Alaska, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca. 35,000 to 10,000 years ago. This is a great collection of 6 specimens from prehistoric mammals, including fossilized teeth, tusk ivory, and a tuft of hair from a mammoth! The tooth on the stand is a molar from Deinotherium, a prehistoric relative to elephants that had a downward curing jaw and tusk. The hairs are contained in a modern case, plucked from a body of a woolly mammoth that was miraculously preserved in the ice for thousands of years. The section of ivory tusk, the fragment of a molar that has been polished, and a molar within a creamy beige matrix are also from a woolly mammoth. The last tooth is a polished cross-section of a molar from a woolly rhino! Size of ivory: 9.35" L x 1.5" W (23.7 cm x 3.8 cm)
