Description:

Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A fabulous ensemble of 6 pottery vessels, all displaying bulbous bodies, narrow necks, and flared rims. The largest displays a rounded yet stable base, a spherical body, and a rolled rim. A pair of similar vessels also sit upon round bases, but instead have carinated shoulders and folded rims. The remaining 3 are all supported by applied feet, 2 ring-form and 1 discoid. The pair with ring-form bases exhibit different bodies - 1 egg-shaped and the other apple-form - but both have thin necks and tiered rims. Last, the jar with the discoid foot showcases a piriform body with a trefoil spout and tubular handle that connects the curved shoulder to the slender neck. Size (of largest): 6.5" in diameter x 7.9" H (16.5 cm x 20.1 cm)
