Description:

Central Asia, India, Gupta Dynasty, ca. 4th to 6th century CE. A lovely hollow-cast terracotta head of an aristocratic woman displaying ornate jewelry and a sensitive visage. Her gentle countenance is comprised of full cheeks and lips, a petite nose, slender almond-shaped eyes with delineated pupils, cupped ears, and a smooth brow line with thin brows. Locks of stylized hair cascade down the sides of her head and in front of an over-arching, intricately-plaited headdress. She wears a pair of lobed, barrel-shaped earrings; note how her ear lobes are stretched around the top portions. A beautiful presentation replete with careful attention to detail! Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5" H (12.7 cm); 6.75" H (17.1 cm) on included custom stand.
