Western Europe, France/Gaul, Merovingian Dynasty, ca. 5th to 7th century CE. An elegant gold pendant inlaid with 4 pieces of scarlet-hued almandine garnet, all in the form of a 3-armed shape and strung on a modern gold strand with a lobster claw clasp to be wearable. Each point of the pendant features a pin with an orb-shaped finial, further emphasizing each arm and securing the piece to its backing. Size (pendant): 0.8" W x 0.8" H (2 cm x 2 cm); (strand): 21" L (53.3 cm); gold quality: 92% (equivalent to 22K+); weight (pendant only): 3.2 grams
