Description:

Ancient Central Asia, Indo-Scythian Kingdom, ca. late 1st millennium BCE to mid-1st century CE. A fine group of 50 struck coins made from 48% to 86% silver. The obverse of each coin depicts a standing figure with text around the peripheries, and the versos show a figure riding a horse and perhaps brandishing a weapon. The Indo-Scythian kingdom occupied the area that is now Pakistan, and little is known about them aside from their distinctive silver coinage. Size of each (all are relatively similar): 0.6" W (1.5 cm); quality of silver: between 48% and 86%; total weight: 85.6 grams.
