Description:

**First Time At Auction**

North America, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Pleistocene (Ice Age), ca 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago; Central Asia, Siberia, Pleistocene (Ica Age), ca. 1.8 million to 10,000 years ago. This is a great gathering of 5 fossilized and well-preserved pieces from Ice Age animals including teeth, ivory tusk, and fur - all from woolly mammoths and a woolly rhinoceros. The mammoth teeth are fragments from molars and the rhino tooth is the upper crown with creamy white enamel and a honey brown interior. The original chemicals of the teeth were replaced during the fossilization process with quartz (silica) and other minerals, and the 2 mammoth pieces are cut and polished. The ivory tusk fragment has developed an unusual orange and green hue, and the multiple layers of the cementum and dentine are exposed. The collection of mammoth hairs is from a body preserved in the ice for thousands of years! Size of tusk: 9.5" L x 1.75" W (24.1 cm x 4.4 cm)
