Near East, Byzantine Period, ca. 13th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of 5 pottery bowls with beautifully adorned interiors - 4 with liberal remains of pigments and elaborate incised decoration of abstract, phytomorphic, and zoomorphic motifs and 1 with a lustrous spring green glaze - all enveloped in rich marine deposits from centuries spent on the ocean floor. Size of largest (all relatively similar): 10.9" Diameter x 4.1" H (27.7 cm x 10.4 cm)

One bowl has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.
