Description:

Western Europe, France, ca. 21st century CE. A delightful collection of limited edition Haviland Limoges porcelain trays in the "Le Bestiaire" pattern, designed by Alain Thomas (b. 1942). The set includes four square trays, each featuring vibrant jungle scenes with gilt edges and suede-covered bases. All trays are stamped with the Haviland Limoges hallmark, though only the larger two are numbered: the monkey tray is "093/250" and the toucan tray is "047/250." Known for his folk art style, described as "naive-primitive," Thomas's use of bright colors and whimsical tropical flora and fauna creates an exotic tribute to the earth. Thomas has been designing for Haviland since 2003, and these pieces are meticulous reproductions of his work. The smaller trays depict a red parrot, possibly a lory, and koalas, while the larger trays feature toucans and a squirrel monkey. Size of larger tray: 12" L x 12" W x 2" H (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm x 5.1 cm); smaller tray: 7.25" L x 7.25" W x 1.25" H (18.4 cm x 18.4 cm x 3.2 cm).
