Description:

Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 4th to 1st century BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A lovely ensemble of pottery heads from the ancient Mediterranean: 4 Greek female heads and 2 Roman heads. Possibly representing goddesses, all 4 of the Greek women wear their hair pulled back to showcase their idealized visages, and 3 wear a headdress or tiara. Alternatively, the 2 Roman pieces represent the upper body of the Roman god Faunus - Greek Pan - and the head of a female crowned by a wreath. Size of largest (conical headdress): 5.1" L x 1.6" W x 2.2" H (13 cm x 4.1 cm x 5.6 cm); of largest on stand: 5.7" L (14.5 cm)
