Central Asia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Northern India, Gandhara, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A collection of 6 pottery molds to impress decorative features into clay vessels, votive tablets, or statues, consisting of a fragment from a figural mold, and complete molds of sinous abstract shapes. The smallest molds could have also formed beads or jewelry. Included are modern putty impressions of each. The region of Gandhara played a significant role in the Silk Road trade network; these terracotta molds sped up production to meet demands. Size of largest: 3.75" L x 2" W (9.5 cm x 5.1 cm)
