Description:

Native American, Southern United States, Arkansas, Middle Archaic to Classic period, ca. 2500 BCE to 1650 CE , ca. 5000 BCE to 1500 CE. A collection of 34 chert and quartzite "bird points" from Arkansas, in a variety of stemmed, bifurcated, and lanceolate forms. Small points like these are colloquially called "bird points" but experimental archaeology has shown that they could easily have been used for hunting large game like deer - birds were much easier to capture with nets. Size of largest point: 2" L x 0.8" W (5.1 cm x 2 cm); case: 12.125" L x 8.125" W (30.8 cm x 20.6 cm)
