Description:

Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A dazzling trio of glass unguentaria, each boasting a gorgeous rainbow and violet-hued iridescence. Free-blown for translucent blue-green glass, the largest and most petite bottles each display a teardrop-shaped body with a rounded base, a long, attenuated neck, and a flared rim. The larger also presents a corseted neckline. The mid-size vessel is similarly formed from translucent blue-green glass but is covered in a dark weathering film making it appear deep gray or violet. It presents a concave base, a tiered body, a rounded shoulder, a cylindrical neck, and a broad rim. Size of largest: 1.2" Diameter x 5.3" H (3 cm x 13.5 cm)

  • Condition: Most petite has area of loss to rim and all have stable fissures in areas. Otherwise, 2 are intact and all are excellent with heavy weathering film to interior and beautiful iridescence to surface. Largest and most petite have pontil marks on underside of base.
