Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico and Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Casas Grandes, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A collection of 3 hand-built pottery vessels that all rest on rounded but stable bases with outward flaring rims; a large Ramos blackware pottery pot, a Playas redware jar, and a red on brown Corralitos incised pot. The Corralitos pot has the characteristic textured design: a register of interlocking bands highlighted in red, outlined with incised lines, all on a light brown ground. The other two are plain, but highly burnished with lustrous slips. Size (Corralitos): 7.5" Diameter x 7" H (19 cm x 17.8 cm)

Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired prior to 2002
