Pre-Columbian, southern Mexico / northern Central America, Olmec to Proto-Mayan, ca. 500 BCE to 200 CE. A collection of twenty-four ceramic heads from the transitional period between the Olmec and the Maya; some may also be part of the Tlatilco tradition. A variety of facial features, earrings, headdress, and coiffures are demonstrated in this collection, giving us an idea of how people dressed and looked in the past. Size of the largest head (most are fairly similar in size): 1.75" W x 2.2" H (4.4 cm x 5.6 cm); size of custom case for holding them: 9.95" W x 18.95" H (25.3 cm x 48.1 cm)
