Description:

Rome and Near East, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A fine ensemble of twenty two iron and bronze arrow tips from the Roman empire and the ancient Near East. Twelve arrow tips display pyramid-shaped heads. Ten of these have tapered tangs, while the other two show twisted tangs. Nine present with slender, tapered tangs and flat heads in varying shapes, including six diamond-like shapes, two triangles, and one petaloid-shape. Of these, two have a high central ridge on each face. The remaining tip features a conical socket and a flat, triangular head. Size of largest: 5.4" L x 0.6" W (13.7 cm x 1.5 cm)

  • Condition: Largest arrow tip has repair to tang along upper section with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Several arrow tips have losses to lower sections of tangs as shown. All pieces have light encrustations and abrasions. Great patina throughout.
