North America, United States, Texas, Pittsburg, ca. 2000 CE. A pair of hand-carved and painted wood biblical scenes by Texas folk artist Ken Bass, one titled "Daniel in the Lion Pit" and the other "Bath on the Roof." The lion scene comes from the book of Daniel chapter 6 and depicts Daniel upon a round base covered in sand with the lion passing by his outstretched arms. The other is from the 2 Samuel chapter 11, verse 3: the infamous moment that David glimpses Bathsheba with her attendant. The undersides of both are signed and carved with the artist's name, title, and date. Size (Daniel carving): 7" Diameter x 6.5" H (17.8 cm x 16.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
