Steve Kestrel (American, 1947 to present), ca. 21st century CE. A beautiful pair of limited-edition copper belt buckles by award winning Colorado artist Steve Kestrel; one is a barn owl head washed in silver, series number 28/300, and the other is a toad with golden spots, series number 77/300. Both are signed by the artist on the interior and contain a bar and prong for use as wearable art! Kestrel's work has been displayed in collections at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Wyoming, and the Denver Art Museum. He is also the recipient of numerous awards including the 2012 gold medal for sculpture at The West Select exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum. Both are similar in size. Size (toad): 2.25" L x 2" W (5.7 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
