Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Jonathan Jacobson (Canada, First Nations, Kwakiutl, mid-20th century to present), ca. 21st century CE. This is a fantastic example of a contemporary carving of a wolf head with an articulating jaw in the traditional formline style A pull string threaded through the head to the lower jaw operates the mouth, this articulating mechanism is based off masks used ceremonial dances. The cedar surface is elaborately carved and painted in vibrant hues and white rabbit fur accents the head and base. The wood base is by the same artist but intended for a different piece but supports this incredible wolf head perfectly! Size: 7" L x 3.5" W x 8" H (17.8 cm x 8.9 cm x 20.3 cm)
