Description:

Native American, Northwestern United States, Washington, Plateau Tribes, Yakama / Nez Perce, ca. mid to late-20th century CE. A beaded purse made from deerskin with a short loop handle, the front is flat-stitched with powder blue seed beads and a contoured flower motif. Native people in the Columbia River Plateau region (eastern Oregon / Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana) were highly talented with beadwork, making bags and purses such as this for personal use during pow wows and as sale items. Purportedly this was collected in Washington State. Size: 9" L x 8.75" W (22.9 cm x 22.2 cm)
