Native American, Northwest Coast, Tlingit peoples, ca. mid 20th century CE. A beautifully carved and painted wood headdress frontlet featuring a raven whose wings open to reveal a mask on the bird's torso. Surrounding the bird is a thick border of inlaid abalone shell. The bird is painted in striking turquoise, red, and black, with inlaid shell on the eyes and wings. Tall spikes project from the upper part of the headdress. Size: 5.45" W x 12.25" H (13.8 cm x 31.1 cm)
