Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

New World, Mexico, Spanish Colonial inspired, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A handsome folk art cross, carved from wood, with a green background and an integrated white and blue pedestal. "INRI" is painted at the top of the cross, while a carved rooster - a symbol of Christ's Passion - is nailed on the lower bar. An axe on a long pole, a ladder, and a short, goblet-shaped pedestal also are attached to the cross. Drilled perforations on the crossbar suggest that there may once have been a different figure attached to it. Hammered tin wings are attached to the back of the cross and give it a dramatic appearance. Size: 16.35" W x 36" H (41.5 cm x 91.4 cm)
