South America, Peru, Ucayali River, Shipibo peoples, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A tall hand-carved wooden figurine of a standing man upon an integral pedestal base - a simple stylized form with delineated legs and arms to his sides. The naturally light-yellow surface is painted with the traditional black tattoos in curvilinear shapes, with additional cap like hair and staring pupils. He wears a cotton cloth tunic in coffee brown that is also patterned with the same meandering motifs. Size: 7" L x 5" W x 31" H (17.8 cm x 12.7 cm x 78.7 cm)
