Native American, United States, central and southern Plains, Plains Indians, ca. early 20th century CE. A slender club with a handle formed from tightly coiled sinew and wrapped along the exterior with hide strips. The egg-shaped stone beater is secured within thick hide straps to ensure the stone will not fall out, and the handle terminal is adorned with a tuft of coarse horsehair. Size (w/ hairs): 17.5" L x 2" W (44.4 cm x 5.1 cm)
