Oceania, Papua New Guinea, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden adze with a slender handle and a dramatically-angled blade head. Most of the body is wrapped with densely-woven reed strands, and an integral wooden blade protrudes from the striking end. Fine patina covers the surfaces of this utilitarian tilling tool. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 11.875" W x 24" H (30.2 cm x 61 cm); 26" H (66 cm) on included custom stand.
