Description:

Native American/First Nations, Pacific Northwest Coast, ca. mid 20th century CE. A brilliantly painted wooden panel depicting the face of Raven, who symbolizes creation and transformation. His face - especially his magnificent beak - projects outward from the panel. Nacre (mother of pearl) panels surround the face, as well as creating the ears, eyes, and decorative feather symbols on the lower edges. White feathers fringe the top of the panel. His feet also project outward below his mouth. Blue, red, and black pigment give this a very striking appearance. Signed on back with "JK". Size: 5.8" W x 7.75" H (14.7 cm x 19.7 cm); 10" H (25.4 cm) on included custom stand.
