Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest, probably Haida, Queen Charlotte Island, ca. second half of the 20th century CE. A stunning hand-carved wooden mask, made from cedar and painted with bright pigment. The face is fierce, with sunken eyes, high cheekbones, and a jutting, open mouth with wide red lips. Turquoise and sky blue decorate the face, forming large shapes around the eyes and mouth. Red fills out the nostrils and lips while thick bands of black on the forehead, cheeks, and hair provide contrast. Size: 6.3" W x 8.25" H (16 cm x 21 cm); 13.95" H (35.4 cm) on included custom stand.
