Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast (USA & Canada), ca. mid 20th century CE. A rare wooden rattle in the form of an orca, its body curved over so that the mouth touches the tail, hand-carved from cedar and hand-painted using a palette of red and black hues. The interior is filled with percussive rattles that make a gentle sound like falling rain when shaken. Size: 2.8" W x 9.7" H (7.1 cm x 24.6 cm)
