Description:

Latin America, Mexico, Oaxaca, ca. 1930 CE. A lovely earth-tone and fully-wearable woven poncho in hues of ash grey, cream, black, and red. Four sets of white-and-black zigzag patterns adorn the front and back, with the letter "E" and the numbers "2" and "5" on either side of the zigzags. Eight red-and-black letter "H" shapes rest just above the slit meant for a person's head to go through, and the words "OAX," "XAXACA," "AT AT," and "MEXICO" are just below shoulders which display four smaller but similar zigzag patterns. Similar zigzag patterns also detail the bottom of the poncho and are enclosed by a repeating curvilinear motif, and rest just above attached cream-colored fringe material. This style of garb, known as a Gaban poncho, is more stylish and has greater detail than typical ponchos and is meant to be worn on the town or to various social events. Wearable as shown, and attractive as well! Size: 30" W x 30" H (76.2 cm x 76.2 cm).
