Description:

North America, United States or Canada, ca. mid to late 20th century. A wood walking stick, expertly hand-carved with relief decoration of linear and zoomorphic designs, as well as a version of the lyrics of "That Old Black Magic" - a song written by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer in 1942 and sung by Johnny Johnston in the film "Star Spangled Rhythm." The top of the cane is sculpted in the form of a fisted left hand and tied with strip of beige cloth. Just below, the piece is inscribed "Golden Hand" and signed "WHG."
