West Africa, probably Nigeria, Hausa people, ca. mid 20th century CE. A woven reed/rattan basket with a lid, both the bottom of the basket and the lid formed with four points projecting from a raised surface. The woven rattan forms a diamond between the points on each side on top and bottom. The lid fits snugly within a woven rim; a woven string connects the lid to the base. Size: 10" W x 7.25" H (25.4 cm x 18.4 cm)
