Description:

Central Asia, Nepal or Tibet, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A stunning and large nickel-silver repousse pendant in the form of a moth or butterfly, with a turquoise stone set in the center. The verso features a repousse bird with foliate motifs. The pendant appears to be two plates welded together with a hollow interior. A rectangular bezel supports the generous piece of turquoise upon the butterfly's center. Surmounted on the head and antennae is the tubular bail, which could allow this piece to be strung on a thicker chain. This pendant is wearable and strung on a 90% silver chain. A very beautiful piece that could be worn with either side faceing outward! Size (pendant): 3" L x 3.875" W (7.6 cm x 9.8 cm); (chain): 18" L (45.7 cm); quality of silver chain: 90%
