Central Asia, Nepal, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A fabulous leaded brass bowl presenting a conical foot, a bulbous body, and a flared rim, all topped with a concave lid. The exterior of this intriguing vessel has been intricately adorned in relief by an abstract vegetal design and various symbols, such as a swastika, representing purity or the sun, and a target-motif. The pedestal of the vessel is additionally adorned with a repeated petaloid motif. Alternatively, the lid is free of decoration and dips inwards creating a planar basin atop the bowl. Size: 10.375" in diameter x 5.25" H (26.4 cm x 13.3 cm)

  • Condition: Stable fissure to rim of lid. Expected nicks, chips, abrasions, and light softening of detail, all commensurate with age and use. Abraded areas on interior. Otherwise, intact and very nice with excellent patina and light earthen deposits.
